Pay Goes Where?!

I’ve been following mobile payment such as Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay for years. My interest goes all the way back to Google Wallet and Venmo. It’s been a topic of conversation for retailers for years. At work, I’ve been doing nonstop integrations to allow payment bridge companies to adopt EMV (Chip-And-Pin). The Technology Divide

While everyone looks to the horizon for the next big bubble, There’s a monumental divide that is forming within the PC, mobile and companion verticals. At first, it started small…like a fracture on the side of a mountain; but it’s continued to spread. It deepens month-by-month. Google Drive is not dead…ya’ll need Jesus…

All morning I see announcements that Google Drive is dead. It’s not dead! Come on tech blogs…find actual news. Google has announced it will be discontinuing it’s PC & Mac sync application and replacing it with a new app called Backup & Sync. That’s it. No cloud falling from the sky. No weather map with sections labeled “catastrophic”. No change to your daily life. USB 3.1, USB-C, USB-PD, Thunderbolt 3…WTF?

We are officially in a world where USB is no longer Universal. Since the late 90’s, USB has been the gold standard in external device interconnect. It is as ubiquitous as blinking LED’s and computer monitors. It powers our phones, and connects our devices; it’s on our cameras and on our speakers. Even our car’s come with a USB port. I love technology. It is the one true passion of my life. I work with it. I fight for it. I do what is necessary to seek out and learn everything there is to know about it.
